Insanity and diminished responsibility

This case involved an appeal against conviction by a person convicted of murder who had represented himself at trial. The Court considered the legal effect of the failure of trial Judge to order an investigation into accused’s fitness to stand trial, and the trial Judge’s failure to direct the jury as to defences of insanity and diminished responsibility.
